Preparation

Ensure that the surface to be painted is clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material. Nail heads should be treated with Leyland AntiCorrosive Metal Primer. Rub down previously painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper to provide a key and rinse thoroughly. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Special precautions should be taken during preparation of  pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.

Application

Stir well before use. Apply by a brush or roller which should be clean and free from solvent and oil. Apply liberally, brushing firmly into the surface. Do not apply when the air or surface temperature is below 10ºC or externally when rain is imminent. A second coat serves as an excellent undercoat for gloss finishes. Under normal conditions, touch dry in 30 minutes, recoatable after 1-2 hours. High humidity can retard the drying time.

Cleaning

Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before cleaning. Clean equipment immediately after use in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Replace lid firmly. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings. Do not empty product into drains or watercourses.
