Acrylic Primer Undercoat

A general purpose  water-based primer undercoat, suitable for interior and exterior  bare timber surfaces.  In addition to offering easy, low odour application, it is quick drying, enabling two or three coats to be applied in one day.

Coverage

1 litre will cover approximately 13 square metres, depending on the nature and porosity of the surface. Under normal conditions, touch dry within 30 minutes, re-coatable after 1 to 2 hours.

Drying time

Recoatable after 1-2 hours.

Transportation and storage

To avoid the risk of spillage, always store and transport in a secure upright position. PROTECT FROM FROST.

Wet: 77µm Dry: 24µm

Preparation

Ensure surface to be painted is sound, clean, dry and free from grease. Rub down bare timber surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper to remove raised grain and sharp edges. Apply Knotting Solution to knots and resinous surfaces. Rub down previously painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper to provide a key. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.

 Application

Stir well before use. Apply by brush or roller. Apply liberally, brushing firmly into the surface. Treat all accessible timber, in particular the end grain. A second coat  serves as an excellent undercoat for Leyland Gloss Finish. Do not apply when the temperature is below 10°C or externally  when rain is imminent.

Cleaning

Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing. Wash equipment immediately after use in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Some local authorities have special facilities for disposal of waste coatings. Do not empty product into drains or watercourses. Replace lid firmly.
